  • The seller and the vehicle are not in the same location.
    • Seller is going through a divorce.
    • Death in the family.
    • Received through an inheritance.
    • Seller has been or is being deployed.
  • Payment, seller pushes for a quick completion of the transaction through unsecured means.
    • Wire transfer, Money-gram, Western union, Direct Bank Transfer.
    • Gift cards Visa, MasterCard, Walmart, Amazon.
    • Ebay Purchase protection (only available when the purchase is within Ebay).

Ways to protect yourself:

  • Research.
    • Do not take the sellers word for it the internet is a great way to look for discrepancies.
      • Check the vin# in car-fax.
      • Look for the same add in different publications Ebay Craigslist in different cities, states.
  • See if the seller will let you send a friend or family member that is in or will be in the area call a local towing company consequently it may cost you some money up front but you will not be out the money in the end.
